imagine, someone jumps off the corridor of an hdb flat.
the ground below him remains unaffected, besides the bloodstains that remain, waiting for someone to wash them away. he hadnt made an impact on the grounf he landed on.
but certainly, he had made at least one impact. on someone's life. on somebody else's mind.
he could have created a hole in someone's heart, or made someone's soul become hollow.
so sometimes, death isnt physical. but mental.
one's physical death can lead to another's mental demise.
how sad.
but i wanna give that a try.
and always interesting;
someone who's constantly in the center of attention,
but sufficiently well-balanced not to let it go to their head.
They also see you as kind, considerate, and understanding;
someone who'll always cheer them up and help them out.

Ice Cream Test - Pick your favorite ice cream flavor.
A national manufacturer of ice cream, Edy's Grand Ice Cream, commissioned an ice cream flavorology study to determine how ice cream preferences relate to personality. The study, conducted by Dr. Alan R. Hirsch (M.D.) Neurological Director of the Smell & Taste treatment and Research Foundation in Chicago, revealed that distinct personalities correspond with ice cream flavors.
According to the official taster for Edy's Grand Ice Cream, the flavorology research is fun "food for thought" to discuss around the dinner table. Before serving dessert, ask your family and friends to name their favorite ice cream flavor, then give them the scoop on their personality.
Pick your favorite of the ice cream flavors listed below and find out what it says about your personality.
1. Vanilla
2. Chocolate
3. Butter pecan
4. Banana
5. Strawberry

The Sheriff of Nottingham captured Little John and Robin Hood and imprisoned them in his maximum-security dungeon.
Maid Marion begged the Sheriff for their release, pleading her love for Robin. The Sheriff agreed to release them only if Maid Marion spent the night with him.
To this she agreed.
The next morning the Sheriff released his prisoners.
Robin asked that Marion tell him how she persuaded the Sheriff to let them go free.
Marion told the truth, and was bewildered when Robin said that he never wanted to see her again.
At this Little John defended her, inviting her to leave Sherwood with him and promising life-long devotion.
She accepted and they rode away together.
Now in terms of realistic every-day standards of behavior, put Robin, Marion, Little John and the Sheriff in the order in which you consider they showed the most morality and honesty (from most moral to least moral).
There is no "right" answer. What follows is the psychologist's characterization of you based on which of the 24 possible arrangements you chose.

You are walking to your boyfriend/girlfriend's house.
There are two roads to get there.
One is a straight path which takes you there quickly, but is very plain and boring.
The other is curvy and full of wonderful sights on the way, but takes quite a while to reach your loved one's house.
WHICH PATH DO YOU CHOOSE?
Short or long?
On the way, you see two rose bushes.
One is full of white roses.
One is full of red roses.
You decide to pick 20 roses for your boyfriend/girlfriend.
WHAT COLOR COMBINATION DO YOU CHOOSE?
(Any combination including all one color is fine.)
You finally get to your boyfriend/girlfriend's house.
You ring the bell and the maid answers.
You can ask the maid to please get your loved one,
or you may go get them yourself.
WHICH ACTION DO YOU TAKE?
Ask the maid or do it yourself?
Now, you go up to your girlfriend/boyfriends room.
No one is there.
You can leave the roses by the windowsill, or on the bed.
WHERE DO YOU PUT THE ROSES?
Bed or window?
Later, its time for bed.
You and your loved one go to sleep, in separate rooms.
You wake up in the morning,
and go to your boyfriend/girlfriend's room to check up on him/her.
You enter the room:
IS HE/SHE AWAKE OR SLEEPING?
It's time to go home now, and you start to head back.
You can take either road home now:
The plain, boring one thats gets you home fast;
or the curvy, sight-filled road that you can just casually take your time with.
WHICH ROAD DO YOU CHOOSE?
Short or long?
Analysis
Which road do you choose to take to your love's house?
The roads represent your attitude towards falling in love.
If you chose the short one, you fall in love quickly and easily.
If you chose the long one, you take your time and do not fall in love easily.
What combination of roses do you choose to give your love?
The number of red roses represent how much you expect to give in a relationship.
The number of white roses represent how much you expect in a relationship.
Therefore, if a person chose all red with one white, he/she gives 90% in the relationship but expects to receive only 10% back.
Do you ask the maid to get your love, or do you do it yourself?
This question shows your attitude in handling relationship problems.
If you asked the maid to get your loved one,
then you may beat around the bush, maybe asking a third party to intervene.
Avoidance of problems runs high.
If you went and got your loved one yourself,
then you are pretty direct.
If there is a problem, you confront it and deal with it.
You want to work it out right away.
Where do you put the roses?
On the windowsill or on the bed?
The placement of the roses indictate how often you'd like to see your boyfriend/girlfriend.
Placing the roses on the bed means you need lots of reassurance in the relationship,
and you'd want to see your loved one every day, if possible.
Placing the roses by the window show that you don't expect or need to see your loved one that often;
seeing them just once in a while is OK.
Do you find your love asleep or awake?
Finding your boyfriend/ girlfriend asleep:
You accept your loved one the way they are.
Finding them awake:
You expect him/her to change for you.
Which road do you choose to go home?
The short and long roads now represent how long you stay in love.
If you chose the short one, you fall out of love easily.
If you chose the long one, you tend to stay in love for a long time.

Draw a spiral [looks like a lollipop to me..]
Analysis
How did you draw your picture?
From the Center Outward
You are of the conventional type of people who, in learning about and dealing with the world, would start with things small and specific, and then expand to the large and general. The desire is directed toward what is lying beyond one's immediate horizon. Of inquisitive mind, you'd seek and search, but your restlessness may not always prove to be rewarding or satisfactory.
From the Edge Inward
You belong to the type of people who put much emphasis on concentration and control. You tend to be oblivious of the goings-on around you and want to focus on what truly interests you. Skeptical of the fantastic and implausible, you'd rather deal with matters that are more concrete in nature. Being a pragmatist who doesn't want to be misled by unrealistic hopes, you want to be reliable and productive in a dependable way.
in his skool, he's VP over the instructional programme thingy.. oops, i spilled too much info.

you dun see west mall small... actually they have many nice stuff to sell.. [if onli they have minitoons, west mall will be my second home!]

today, i buy a brown handbag for my mama [veri nice!], ordered a black belt [collecting it tmw cos they currently dun have stock and they'll be replenishing stock tmw], bought a handmade necklace where the pendant carries my name, ordered a handphone accessory carrying my sis name [giving it to her as an early bday pressie.. collecting it on mon after work since they lady boss need to go home and make nice nice], and bought a 20Q toy from watson's!
this toy veri interesting.. you think of smth den you start answering the questions that this toy asks, and soon... it predicts wad you're thinking! i played twice so far... my first item was a diamond, but it came out with sapphire.. so kinda close... my second was a domestic cat, and the toy got it correct and went,"you thought you were tricky."
bleah.
anyway, went to changi airport to send elin off... didnt get to reach lydia on the phone for the whole two days, so sent elin off with huiyi onli.. the other gals couldnt make it :[ reached there when elin's family was having dinner.. den after that we went to a cafe at terminal one and they ate cheese cake while i had chocolate fudge cake.. not say veri nice, but it's okae.. den huiyi finally came.. den we sent elin and her mama off at around 7.10pm.. den everybody went their own paths.. elin's papa and younger sis went home, huiyi went to yishun to have a gathering with her colleagues, den i go take mrt.. for the whole trip, i had the urge to go bugis, den to orchard, den to vivocity since that announcing thing kept announcing the stations like "bugis", "city hall interchange, passengers going to orchard...", "outram park, passengers going to harbourfront, punggol..."
finally settled on going to west mall to buy a bag for my mama... the shop X-Z was still having their 50% off sale.. wow!!! bought the bag at 14.50 and ordered the belt at the price of 12.50.. wahhhh..... spent less than $30 there sia... to think that i bought my bolster bag at 32.50.........
anyway, gotta go.. i wanna watch naruto! buai~
22 February 2007
bought a pouch from m'sia's holiday plaza.. and the food at m'sia's mac is much nicer! the chicken is softer :] hope that the softness is not bcos the farmers injected some chemical into the chickens...
den after that, we reached home and i went to west mall 1 minute later after using the toilet.. spend more than $60 within 45 min.. haha! cos i bought a bag and a belt from X-Z, which was having a storewide 50% discount sale, den i went to shop n save to buy energy bars, den i went to watsons to buy the sunsilk hair serum :] den i put in another $10 into my ez-link card since there was onli a few dollars left inside that card of mine.. see? i spent so much.. budden it's onli once in a while, not an everyday thing.. HENG SIA. or else i bankrupt..
hai, den i get excited over the bag for another hour or so... excited over the belt for the same period of time... so now, im exhausted... excitement can cause exhaustion.
tired tired tired.
actually planned to go kayaking with elin, lydia and evan.. ended up evan saying her mum dun let her get sunburned [which was our purpose in going to kayak], lydia having another bout of sinus, leaving elin and me... and i feel that 2 gals out at sea kayaking kinda no-fun.. and it'll be kinda dangerous.. imagine one gal drowns and the other panics. both die sia.... haha, touch wood [imagine me touchin' your head, readers]
my mum and my sis, ah no........ my mum and my BRO are going to johore to pump petrol... i dun understand why... you go all the way there, go through all the trouble of entering m'sia, den all the trouble to come back home, just to pump a limited amount of petrol and oso using quite an amount of it while travelling back... i dun understand... it's cheaper there, i know.. but cheap enough to go there!? haiiii, dun understand.. haha~
hmm.. was having my daily stomachache a moment ago, suddenly it's gone... wonder why.

i am sick of you going, "my son this, my son that."
i am sick of you telling me that YOU are sick of serving me.
i am sick of looking at how you listen to everything he says and how you turn deaf to wad i say.
i am sick of you being worried abt him when he's outside and that you get angry when i go out with frens.
i am sick of you being biased.
i am sick of being the butt of everybody's jokes.
i want to leave.
sometimes i really want to jump out of that window of ours. really. but jumping from 7 storeys cant provide sure death.
maybe i'l just stab myself. but i know i prefer jumping cos i dun like the idea of using knives.
maybe i'll going onto a busy road and get knocked down by a car. but it cant provide sure death, but most probably that i become crippled and more anxious to leave with no avail.
dammit.
sincerely from,
your daughter

after that we went to watch ghostrider.. it's great!! at first when johnny blaze morphed into a ghostrider for the first time, the skull and the fire looked too fake for a 3-yr-old kid to accept.. but somehow, it looks more real the more i look at it.. haha, wonder why.. it's a nice show! it's almost the first time i managed to rmb the characters' names! since there were onli 2 lead characters besides the devil himself, his son called "black heart" and the other evil allies.. johnny blaze, starred by nicholas cage, and roxanne, starred by the-gal-in-snitch.. nice show, really worth watching.. hai, promised to catch the show with junming though.. guess we'll watch another one..
tmw, gonna meet some class peeps.. for lunch.. they're going to watch ghostrider before lunch, and since i watched it oredi, i'll onli be joining them for lunch.. budden somehow, i think i lost the bond with the class peeps oredi.. or have i? i can oredi envision myself walking at the back of the herd of pple, with my hands in my pants pocket, listening to wad they're saying, unable to give even a small comment, my head bent low. or maybe im walking rite infront while they giggle and tok abt everything and anything while i find no chance to participate in the conversation and end up just walking and occasionally turning back in case they walked away without me knowing.
in a crowd, you can feel the ghost of loneliness haunting you.
anyway, i hadnt done any visiting.. cos my mother's side, my mother still bearing the grudge of not inheriting part of my grandfather's fortune and that my uncle swallowed it whole [according to her side of the story]..
and some membersof my family violently object to going to my father's side where there lies the ex-principal of a polytechnic who likes to tok abt his days as the principal, abt practically everything under the sun.. and he does all the toking, while he assumes that everybody else likes doing the listening.. and my sis and my mother do not like to do the listening at all.. im fine.. if i ever get bored, i just start at the bridge of the nose and start to stone, while occasionally nod my head to emphasis the im paying attention.. den sometimes go "woah...." as a form of mock admiration for his past deeds... that's wad i've been doing when a word of advice turns into a story and den turns into a literal soap opera.
im evil.. but im just being more polite than saying,"sorry, but please stop toking cos apparently, nobody is listening."
ah.. anyway..
i woke up in the noon, den had brench with my family, den my sis and bro-in-law came over, den we went to vivocity to watch THE PROTEGE, in chinese it's "men tu".. starring andy lau, louis khoo and many many wonderfully handsome actors whom i cant rmb the names rite now.. it's a dark movie, dark as in mood, atmosphere, plot, not the lighting. there's blood and gore, som inspector's hand got hammered until it got hammered off.. same meaning as chopping it off, but with a hammer.. the hammer-er hammered it repeatedly and the hammer-ed just screamed his head off and let the guy hammer at his hand... my bro still cant figure out why he dun just withdraw his hand once the first blow came.. haha. next the hammer-er, who is obviously a retard, obediently jumped down 8 storeys high and died just bcos another guy told him to jump. but the actualy "jump" was for him to jump onto the air con compressor which was a metre adjacently below him, not to the ground which was eight storeys away.
still, there was minimal blood loss in the movie, when the hammering took place, it seems like the hammer-ed had no blood cos he didnt have blood flowing profusely when the hand came off.. just that he got a bloody arm and a hand which is miraculously able to grasp onto the hammer-er's hand when the stupid rtd decided to hold up the hand to admire his work.. reminds me of adams' family. and the hand didnt look like it was hammered.. it looked clean without any bruises, no blood, not signs of breakage..
even though the movie was mainly dark, there were light moments. like when andy lau [kun ge] decided to change his topic abt him passing his drug business over to the undercover, to asking the undercover to try dating his relative cos she cried her eyes out until they looked like eggs after the undercover rejected her..
and den that rtd i just mentioned, made me laugh my head off at his stupidity.. oh and there's another rtd whom i wont mention cos he's not rtd enough.
anyway, i think i shouldnt be toking too much abt the show, otherwise not interesting to the potential moviegoers oredi.. it really is a good show! i recommend it to anyone except sheryl, who is known to have high expectations of movies.. haha..
after the show, my whole family went to clark quay's coffee club to have dinner.. i didnt like it much.. ordered creamy chicken penne [or smth liddat] and strawberry smoothie.. the penne had too much of the green pepper's taste, such that it overwhelms my nostrils.. and i thoroughly detest that veg. so my appetite got half-ruined. next, was the penne itself. i do not like penne.... i dun like those macaroni-type.. i onli go for pasta, or linguini, spaghetti, those that comes in STRANDS.
saw a lot of ang mohs over there at clark quay.. felt rather awkward.. dunno why.. everytime an ang moh gets within my seeing range, i feel inadequate... that's the racial discrimination i detest most.. i dunno why the notion of angmohs being the superior human beings still haunt me after all the gp lessons on racial discrimination.
oh! i had a nightmare this morning.. sian... almost the same nightmare i had recently.. but this time it's longer and with more details.. somehow, i got cursed such that everybody around me die, or smth liddat.. and suddenly this professor sends me an invitation for me to attend his lecture, telling me that this lecture will solve my problem.. heck if i know wad problem i had, so i called him to ask him wad was all this abt.. he refused to let me know.. and somehow, i dunno if i even attended.. i just skipped to the part where the dream repeats and im at an open area surrounded by a river and forests while the bus/ship i was in burns... i rmb that there was a wooden hut behind me and it's presence kinda scared the shit out of me.. everything abt the dream is so creepy. dun like. dun wanna dream abt it, i guess.
well, i guess this blog entry is getting way too long. and im tired from all the typing. blog to ya next time, bye!
16 February 2007
some before and after pics for the yusheng..
it's chinya and henry!! henry's my suan-ing buddy!! we make fun of each other everytime when we're eating "snake" together while chinya splits herself into half just by laughing.. haha, actually i oso laugh as henry and i suan each other~ he's so funny la!!!!
here's clarice, henry, andy and irene! even though henry, andy and irene are not in my department, they're still veri friendly and warm to us temps! well, clarice is in my department but she isnt as close to my department peeps than the other department.. i still wonder why~ and anyway, when we were abt to leave, clarice kissed me on the right cheek.. i guess she really got a lil tipsy. irene said she downed 5 glasses of beer.. and she was really high, but she didnt get drunk.. i drank 1.5 glass and the taste of it will continue making me steer clear of beer. and oso, i drank on an empty stomach before that and i had stomach pains.. couldnt bear to add more burden to my stomach..
oh! and den darren sent me, chinya and AVK [another colleague] home since he lives quite close to us.. so kind... so unlike him when he's at work.. soooooooooo unlike.. at work, he has high standards for his peeps and every morning when we have the "morning assembly", he will put his hands at his hips and point out every single mistake and potential slip-ups of everybody.. thank goodness he isnt in my department, he's in henry's.. haha... but he's actually veri nice. really.. will be going to his hse to do some visiting on the 3rd of march.. but before going to his hse, will be going to clarice's hse [which is in jurong west, near my old hse].. and on the 25th this month, will be going to my boss' boss' boss' boss' hse.. okae, he's yona's boss.. yona is david's boss.. david is cam's boss.. and cam is my boss. so richard is that boss and he has the qualities to be such an achiever. he really is great! during the party last night, he actually gave chinya and me some tips abt working life!
haha.. i find that ALMOST everybody in the CS dept of pfssg is GREAT!! all except for huiling, she's a huge snob. she thoroughly looks down on young temps like chinya and me. and she shows it. dun like her. dun like her attitude. one day i become her boss den she know. hmph.. haha, need to see HOW i become her boss first.. i cant really speak jap leh..
oh oh!! i wanna gossip some more!! all this while, chinya and i tot clarice and calvin were romantically involved with each other.. but turns out, NO. calvin's married with a wife who's working as a beautician while clarice is single. this leaves chinya and me veri bewildered, veri veri bewildered.. we do not seem to believe our ears.. and i dun see calvin wearing any wedding band.... and den last night calvin and clarice were in an embrace in which calvin didnt hug back, so i guess that's the onli hint that they arent together~ haha, they're just being close frens who hang out together two by two~ and i tel you, calvin has great fashion sense! except that sometimes, he uses too much gel on his hair.. haha!
and on v day, a supplier specially came down to our factory to pass us a HUGE bag of mandarin oranges and 0.5kg of bak kua of an unknown brand... so nice! haha.. and i was the one who carried the 10kg bag up from the lobby to the office at 3rd level.. thank goodness that there's the elevator which does not elevate my burden.. so i went to the department that henry and gang were in and wished them a happy CNY while jokingly asking for an angbao.. den ended up shaking hands with calvin and him saying to me "zao sheng gui zi" which means "may you have a baby soon". he's so funny! man, i love their department. the guys there do know how to make gals laugh.. really.. i dun laugh as easily as when im in office.. almost had stomach cramps once, just from laughing at henry. haha..
i love pfssg's cs dept!!!
have so much more evidence to prove my love but my eyes are closing.. so i gtg, tata!
13 February 2007
anyway, not much worth mentioning abt work.. just the same.. i am still at my desk, not yet sacked for my forgetfulness.. just that my innova classmate just joined the company as a temp covering one of my colleagues who'll be giving birth veri soon! her name is peishi, veri soft-spoken.. veri feminine i can say.. and she slim down quite a lot leh! last time i saw her in innova she was slightly plump, now she veri slim and she's rebond-ed her hair! wah.. so nice.. haha.. the onli thing that im envious of her is that she was practically introduced to all the pple sitting around, beside and behind me, while chinya and me were just introduced to those in charge of us and den sent to do our work.. bleah~ she was even introduced to lenz! hmph.......... haha, n-v-m.
okae, tmw i'll be having dinner with elin, lydia and evan! den on thu i'll be going to asia pacific brewery to have a buffet dinner with free flow of tiger beer! wow.. aiyar, i oso no drink beer before.. dunno how it taste like~ den sat i going to imm to say hi to shaoqin, den i go to aldersgate church to say hi to the church peeps there.... and im gonna do all that in one outfit: my new denim dress!!!!!! haha.. cos it's soooo hard to wash.. and the last time i wore a dress outdoors, besides prom, is when i was 6 and forced to wear those dresses that scratch my skin.. haha..
den i dunno whether my family will be going around to do visiting, since my mother's not befriending her side and i find it hard to interact with them.. cos a lot of them are older than me, otherwise those cousins of mine behave like strangers.. we used to play, but that's veri seldom.. extremely seldom. actually, onli once or twice.. haha~ im the introverted type and so are they.. it's in the genes. i guess.
alrite, i gotta go le.. need to sleep asap. have been having late nights for a long time and it is not good for my eyes, and my skin, my health, my work performance.
tata!

We should not hunt our mates, but rather lure them. After all, a mate is prey to be captured alive.
Anthropologist David Givens has provided a practical guide to the body language of seduction in his new book, Love Signals. The key for both men and women, he says, is to appear harmless and vulnerable. Be the deer by the watering hole, waiting for the wolf to pounce.
Healthy eating and exercise habits can help your mood and self-esteem. Nothing is more important than your health.
Whatever you do, you don’t want to appear guarded. Crossing your arms over your chest and lowering your head are signs of defensiveness that will keep potential mates at a distance. Shirts buttoned all the way to the top and, even worse, turtlenecks keep away the cold, but they also keep away lovers.
The way you dress should be appetizing. Black may be chic, but wearing vibrant, natural colors -- cherry red, forest green, lemon yellow -- will make you seem ripe for the picking.
Once you’ve attracted a mate, what you say isn’t so important. Ninety-nine percent of courting is nonverbal.
Research on opening lines has shown that with the proper body language, “Hello” works most of the time for men and all of the time for women. What’s more important is to communicate openness and interest with your whole body. Here are a few ideas:
Build Familiarity:
How to do it: Walk within arm’s reach of your target on your way to the bathroom, the kitchen or the bar. Repeat several times.
Why it works: Studies prove that we like things simply because we’ve seen them before.
Open Up:
How to do it: Use open-palmed gestures as you talk.
Why it works: Because palms-open exposes the tender part of your hand. Palms-up gestures are a universal sign of friendliness and availability. Palms-down gestures say stay away.
Display Your Interest:
How to do it: Lift one shoulder and cock your head to the side.
Why it works: Anthropologists call this the “cute response.” For both sexes it says, “I’m interested.” It also says, “I’m adorable.”
Be Vulnerable:
How to do it: Wear an open shirt, and touch your neck and collarbone.
Why it works: A neck-touch is as appealing to men as it is to women. You are literally pointing out a weak spot.
Follow Your Partner:
How to do it: If he scratches his head, you scratch your head. If he does the funky chicken, you do the funky chicken.
Why it works: Isopraxism, the technical term for moving in unison, is based on a deep-seated instinct to copy the actions of those we find attractive.
Draw Attention to Yourself:
How to do it: When you are near your prey, drop something -- a napkin, a glove or a watch. Bend down and pick it up.
Why it works: We notice moving objects, even when we can see them only out of the corners of our eyes. Also, you are more vulnerable when you bend over.
Our closest animal relative, the Bonobo chimpanzee, practices the object-dropping technique in courtship. After a male Bonobo notices a female, he will pass by her and climb up the closest tree. From a comfortable height, he will drop twigs around her body, almost hitting her. After a while, the female may become sufficiently charmed to climb up the tree and present her hindquarters to her new mate.

It's been one of those days! You've peeked into the refrigerator three times since lunch. You want something to eat but you can’t figure out what you want. How about some ice cream? Maybe the leftover birthday cake. Perhaps you should go downtown for a pastry and coffee at the cute French bakery.
You have this sense of yearning and food sounds like an easy answer. But in reality, the hunger isn't from your stomach -- it's inside your heart. Instead of eating to fix this hollow feeling, you need ways to nurture and comfort yourself and renew your spirit.
Recognizing Heart Hunger
With heart hunger, you don’t usually get a specific food craving -- you just start thinking about eating. As you search your cupboards or the refrigerator, you’re unsure of what sounds good at the moment. You just know you want “something.” Eventually, heart hunger sends you toward foods that are soft, smooth or creamy-textured, such as ice cream, doughnuts or pasta. It can also make you want comfort foods or ones related to fond memories or happy times.
Heart hunger usually stems from empty emotions, such as feeling depressed, discouraged or lonely. It can show up when you’re bored or restless, as well as times when you’re feeling hurt, disappointed or let down. You can also experience heart hunger when you’re longing for things you can’t get such as attention or appreciation.
Heart hunger foods can even sneak into your life without you realizing it. For example, do you eat a bowl of ice cream most nights before going to bed? For many people, ice cream connects back to childhood memories or to nostalgia for family connections. Soft foods such as doughnuts, cinnamon rolls or brownies may be filling the empty spots left by a broken relationship or disappointments in life.
Will eating change it?
When you start craving sweets or other heart hunger foods, ask yourself, “What’s making me feel empty right now? What am I missing or needing in my life?” Are you feeling alone and wishing you had more friends or a new life partner? Maybe difficult situations have left you tired and discouraged or feeling depressed. Perhaps you don’t have much challenge or meaning in your life, making you bored or restless.
Before you reach for the first bite of comfort food, think about what’s empty or missing in your life, then ask yourself, “Will eating change this?” Of course, sometimes eating does make things better, at least for a while. But in reality, food won’t fix a hungry heart. Your real life is still there, filled with the same emptiness as before.
Filling Your Heart
When you’re facing empty emotions, you don’t need to pound on your pillow or exhaust yourself with exercise. At the first signs of heart hunger, seek out things that feel nurturing or comforting such as a warm bath or a massage. When you feel sad or lonely, you might find solace in listening to music or reading a good book. If you get bored easily, consider learning a new hobby or taking a class to awaken your brain.
Build a nurturing break into your day. Grab your favorite book of poetry or pull out your needlework, then slip on your headset and disappear into the music. Within a few minutes, you’ll have renewed your spirit instead of harming your waistline.
Create an "Instead" List for Heart Hunger
Build a list of things you can do “instead” of eating when your heart is hungry. Here are some ideas to get you started. Whenever you need comfort, nurturing or love, reach for these “insteads” and take care of what your spirit really needs.
Get outdoors. Plant flowers, dig in your vegetable garden, go for a hike or do other activities that involve nature.
Hug or hold somebody and enjoy the healing power of touch. You might consider volunteering at a senior living center. Once you get to know the people there, hug them each time you visit.
Get a massage. If that’s not an option at the moment, massage your own hands or feet with lotion scented with jasmine or lavender.
Light lots of candles. Create a healing environment by using candles of varying sizes and shapes as well as your favorite fragrance such as bayberry or vanilla.
Buy yourself a greeting card and pretend it came from your best friend. Write a love note in it and sign it. Mail it to yourself, then look forward to receiving it in a day or two.
11 February 2007
went out this noon to have an early session of lau-ing yusheng with my family at harbour city restaurant.. wah... den there's promfet, sharks' fin, scallop and prawn, roast chicken [omg, the skin is sooooooo crispy!], and a disgusting dish of oyster, mushroom and facai.. the dish practically ruined my appetite.. oh! this restaurant's century egg porridge ROCKS!! so does their bacon roll, their dim sum rock rock rock! haha! i love dim sum!
after that, met cherie and yiting at taka.. den we went to heerens, walked round and round and cherie bought her pair of pumps, veri sweet, nice.. but it's gonna cause a lot of pain for her for the time being... and erm...... seems like yiting didnt buy anything for herself..... even though she's looking for a pair of shorts.. but she bought stuff for her fren.. haha, such a nice gal.. :P
den we went to far east, walked and walked and walked and walked....... and didnt buy anything until hours later when jialing came and yiting left.. after that, i bought a denim dress which is a lot like the chintzed tunic i posted once.. but for your benefit, i repost it here :]
oso, i bought a turqoise blouse which the veri veri frenly and nice salesgal recommended.. after that they started flooding me with turqoise blouses, why i say that? cos after the first turqoise blouse, came a second and a third.. but i didnt try those two later ones, cos i was veri veri veri happy with the dress and the blouse!! haha! the blouse cost $23.90, while the dress cost $53.90, which is oredi counted cheap compared to a shop which i went to before that.. one balloon dress the lady bosses recommended wasnt wad i wanted, nor did i like it.. and guess the price.
$99.90!! and they onli gave me a 10% discount, which makes the price drop a lil to $90. wahhhh....... i gotta work for 2 days to earn enough to have this dress that makes me look fatter than i really am. nonononononononono, in my mind i was going "nononononononono, i dun want this dress. i dun want this dress!" but i had to kinda entertain the lady boss who was being so nice.. so after that we left that shop and went to series, which is the shop where i bought my stuff *grin grin grin*
cherie bought a striped blouse, it's black and white with horizontal stripes which will go wonderful with a belt.. she was kinda hesitant in buying it cos she saw a similar blouse in forever 21, which is more expensive by $5, and she liked that better.. but under the persuasion of jialing and me, she bought the blouse :]
jialing bought a plait skirt, which is brown in colour.. and wow, she is fast sia... everytime we go shopping, she's one of the first to buy finish.. this time, she took onli 5 minutes to buy it.. fast gal.. and she say, "cheap wad.." since it's onli $14.90.. cheap.. haha, and it's quite nice i can say.. but i can never wear that type of skirt.. sad~
after that i went home while cherie and jialing went to eat dinner.. so far, i onli had a huge meal which settled my breakfast, lunch and dinner.. wow... haha~
okae, i better go now.. otherwise i cannot wake up for tmw's work! tata~
just wanna report some stuff.. finally decided that suki is much better than sakae after last night.. and you know mac's selling some potato wedges? in my 5-cent worth of opinion, it is not nice.. i prefer kfc's.. mac's wedge skin is so tough, and it's not the crispy type where you bit into it and it goes crunch.. it's tough as in the skin is rough, not evenly fried.. den it is practically not as tasty as kfc's.. had to dip it in a lot of sauce.. tried chili, sweet n sour, and curry.. concluded that the wedges can be eaten with curry.. but you dun dip, you soak.. the wedges wont be dripping with the sauce even after that.. the skin cant seem to "grab hold" of the sauce and osmosis cannot work on this potato after going thru mac's frying..
hai~
and then there's ljs' potato chips.. they're way thick to be the common potato chips you buy off the rack.. and when it get's cold, it becomes soggy, limp but tough, practically tasteless.. and even when you eat it when it's hot, it cant make a single crunch like the common potato chips. and it's sooooo thick! and the chips are so big! cant they make it bite-size?
hai~
i think for potato wedges, we stick to kfc [if they're still selling.. i forgot whether it's still listed in their menu].. for chips, we stick to pringles/lays/ruffles..
10 February 2007
my love.... soft shell crab~ oooooooh...... nice.
hai.... i just realised.. no matter how much fun i have with my frens, i will always be going home alone.. everytime, i see the them go away in a bunch.. at je mrt platform, when we depart, im the onli one taking the train westwards.. den when i go out with the class peeps, it wont be that lonely, at times.. at the times when there're actually pple taking the train with me to chinese garden, den saying goodbye to me den getting back to their conversations the next second as the door closes..
ah! see from behind the windows' time!
MY 2 out of 3 bosses!! the one facing us is cam! the one whom you can onli see her hair, is yuli!! david isnt in the pic, cos.....i dunno why too..
ahhhhh... wad i love looking at.... the NO SMOKING sign!!!! hai, there's a smoking room behind my office, so all the smokers gather there at times.. dun like.. the smoke actually can penetrate thru the walls!! haha, kidding.. it's just the smoke smell the smoking colleagues of mine carry aroud when they leave the room.. luckily, my jap guy doesnt smoke [or maybe he does but i just havent seen him aroud with a cigarette]! :D09 February 2007
By Ian Kerner, Ph.D.
Dear Ian:
I’m dating this guy, and I’m not sure if I just like him or if I’m potentially starting to, you know, um, love him?
-- Lost in Love
~~~~~
There’s no easy answer, but try taking the Dr. Ian love test…
Is he taking on special meaning? Once we start liking someone, we begin to see that person’s unique qualities.
Sure, he started out as just another spin on the dating treadmill, but now the others start to pale compared to him. There’s something, well, different about him. He's funnier, more intelligent, more sensitive than the rest of them. In short, he’s becoming special to you.
Is he commanding more of your attention? When we start to like someone, we spend a lot more time thinking about that person. We start to neglect family, friends and work. You check your answering machine, you wait for his emails, you wonder if something’s wrong with AOL. You find yourself thinking more and more about your times together, the little details like what he ordered to drink and the color of the shirt he wore on your last date. Random things and odd events start to remind you of him. Yup, it’s true. He’s got your attention.
Are you wearing rose-colored glasses? When we like someone we tend to aggrandize them, to make a lot out of the little things, to push aside their faults and to even see those faults as being cute or funny. We see their good qualities through a magnifying glass.
Our friends often don’t get what we see in that person, but it doesn’t matter, because we do. Ask yourself: Are you seeing this guy in a way that makes your friends think you’ve swallowed a batch of hallucinogens? If so, it’s time to get a new pair of glasses.
Do you feel consumed by emotion? Are you passionate about him? Have you started and then stopped yourself from sending him little emails? When you’re with him, do those emotions intensify? Do you have to work hard to seem calm and collected when your mind is racing? Are you experiencing mood swings, from happiness to sadness, many of which are dependent on the attention you’re getting or not getting from him?
Are you eating? Are you sleeping? Often when we start to like someone, we feel a sense of exhilaration, a tremendous sense of energy. Our hearts race, and we forget to eat and have trouble sleeping.
Are you changing yourself? Whether it’s your clothes, your hair, your taste in music and movies, or even your priorities and values, when we start to like someone we often emulate them and change ourselves in ways that we think will make us more appealing and attractive to that person.
Do you want exclusivity from him? If he was just a hook-up, it shouldn’t matter if he sleeps with other women. When we don’t really like someone, we don’t care if they see other people. It’s only when we start to like someone that we want or even demand exclusivity.
If you answered yes to some or all of these questions, you’re not just starting to like that person, you’re starting to love that person. Yes, you’re falling -- and you might be on your way to falling really hard.
It doesn’t matter how you got to this place. Whether it started out as just sex -- just a run on the dating treadmill -- once you start loving someone, all bets are off.
anyway....... i wanted to go to church and support junming since he's gonna be worship leader this sat evening.. budden suddenly out of the blue, my mother tells me that she won some money in the stock market and we're going to have dinner at harbour city restaurant on sat.. which makes it impossible for me to go to church.. hai..... dunno when i can see him again sia.. i am sooooo gonna squeeze out some time for next sat's church event.. i wont know wad i will feel when i go there, since i've oredi given up this religion.. but i really wanna see if there're actually any sparks flying btn us before i make any decision... if no sparks, we remain as frens. if got sparks, i ask him out. easy.
hai. i dun understand my mama.. she's angry and worried that my bro dabbled in the shares and lost money, and got more frustrated that he's now working the night shift of some job.. den she tells me, with an expression that's more like her scolding me, instead of worrying abt her son.. den she calls him, and her whole expression change.. she doesnt even tell him wad she's thinking, just asking him questions abt this new job... after that she ends the phone call and she continues complaining to me.. haiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. sian..
Dear Susan
Ever since I can remember I have had on and off breakouts on my skin. My dermatologist says that what I eat has nothing to do with my complexion. Can you help?
--Anonymous
In my opinion and in my experience, the opposite is true. Your diet affects the quality of your blood and also your immune system. The foods that you eat are either alkaline or acidic. When you eat and drink too many acid foods, such as dairy, coffee, red meat, eggplant, green peppers and tomatoes just to name a few, your blood becomes too acidic.
When your blood is too acidic bacteria grows very rapidly in it. This creates infection in your body. Your circulatory system carries blood throughout your entire body carrying nutrients and waste and bacteria. Your kidneys filter your blood and so does your liver to some extent. When your filtration system is dirty and congested with this waste the quality of your blood is affected. Your immune system is compromised leaving you susceptible to disease and your skin, hair and nails will not look healthy.
Skin problems are a first sign that something needs to change with your diet and lifestyle. You have the power to change your life and your destiny with the choices that you make. In my book "The Ciminelli Solution, A 7 Day Plan For Radiant Skin" you will learn how to make the right choices for your health and beauty that will last a lifetime.
As soon as you put your system back in balance by removing what is causing your system to be overly acidic and start eating really healthy, delicious foods that are good for you, your skin will clear up within 7 days.
Today I will not waste your time or mine. I will simply get to the point. I am in one of those moods -- so watch out! Hold on to your "status quo" if you treasure it, because I am going to say everything I can to shatter it.
I am sure that you can feel the truth of this down deep in your bones. It is time we had a serious talk. No, I am not kidding about this one. I want your full attention. Something has been going on in your life for a long time and it is time for a change, a significant change. You know it, and I know it -- so let’s talk.
OK, I will talk and you can listen. But after you read what I have written to you, please send me your comments. I love to get emails from you. (Particularly when you agree with me.)
The topic for today is: Your gifts and your obligation to share them.
I know you have spent much of your life in the thrall of what I call the 10,000 lies -- all those negative childhood experiences that you used to decide (in stone) who you are and what you are worth. It is true about you and it was true about me. I said "was" about me, and I want the "is" about you to change to a "was." Did that make sense?
I want you to learn how to break through the veil of the 10,000 lies and finally see who you really are and what you really have to offer this world, and then I want you to get on with the business of sharing it. That is clear, right?
It is a universal tragedy that most people live out their lives unaware that they are far more wonderful and gifted than they imagine. They never truly question their basic idea of self, because they are so convinced that they really know who they are. I submit, my friend, that this may well apply to you, too. There is a high probability that you have not yet seen your own magnificence; if you had then your life would be rather different than it is right now. If you doubt my accuracy on this, then ask yourself these questions:
1. What experiences or information do I use to define my essential value, worth and abilities?
2. Do I see myself as a capable, lovable, gifted person who is enthusiastic about sharing my gifts with this world?
3. What if I have been wrong about who and what I think I am?
4. What if I am actually far more lovable and valuable and gifted than I have imagined?
5. How would this new awareness change my life?
Now, I will say this to you in all honesty. And if you blow me off by imagining that I don’t really know what I am talking about, then you will have made a grave mistake.
You are far more valuable and gifted than you have imagined. You have been fooled by the 10,000 lies (your childhood wounds), and you have been making those lies the truth your whole life. It is time to stop and confront those lies and look behind the dark veil they have used to blind you.
You can make a meaningful start toward discovering the real and most wonderful you by spending some quality time answering the five questions I posed above. Question 1 may require some energetic innerwork, but it is crucial. We all need to identify the "lies" that have defined us before we can make real progress in the areas of self-love and self-esteem.
After you explore the five questions above you can also explore this last one:
What do other people tell you about your gifts?
Take the time to write down what other people say or have said about your value and the specific gifts you have. Make a list and see which ones seem true for you. Then see which ones make you uncomfortable. They may also be true but might be in conflict with your current self-image. I suggest that you give them and you another chance. You have nothing to lose except your old limited idea of yourself. You might gain a new and more hopeful sense of you.
i just heard the news. O level results coming out on the 9th this month.. which means that A level results coming out SOON.
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
i dun want it to come out. not so soon. wait till i've settled down in life. wait till i no longer NEED to know my A level results. i dun wanna know. i dun wanna know that i've failed. i dun wanna know that i can never go to the university. i dun wanna know that im a failure. argh.
i dun wanna let my mother know that her daughter is a dumbass. cos, firstly, she'll nag me to my grave. second, i dun want her to look down on me any further. im oredi the black sheep of the family. and im sick of being labelled as the black sheep. the stupid one. the retard. the baby.
i think i'll just go die. spare me the pain. but i scared pain. maybe i should just go jump down like leslie.. but i heard that he was still alive after jumping down - his eyes were twitching - and he died after that.. liddat i must find a veri veri veri high building, den jump. liddat most probably i will die of heart attack WHILE falling. heart attack quicker. imagine listening to your bones crush to bits after you hit the ground. imagine hearing your skull pop open. and if you still can open your eyes to see, it's most probable that you see yourself in a mangled mess of dislocated arms and legs and blood. argh. death sux. but being alive can suck more.
at first, i slacked for hours.. now, i slog for hours.
tired tired tired... den the whole time my dear chinya sitting beside me was complaining of fatigue..... end up my eyelids get heavier and heavier and heavier.. almost screwed up my work again la! and den my jap guy not around to perk my spirits up, so i ended up being like a zombie zooming here and there, photocopying, calling suppliers, updating the system, doing the dreaded manual receiving [it is smth which requires skill, intellect and precision. i can get a master degree doing this sia.], counting the quantity of spare parts we received, etc.. damn, manual receiving took me the whole afternoon.
anyway, i got some tips from eDiets!
"Here are two exercises that will help to zap those love handles in record time.
Love Handle Side Oblique Squeeze
Sit in a chair with a light dumbbell in each hand, elbows bent and arms extended outward. Your palms are facing away from your body.
Movement: Flexing your entire side waist area as you go, move your right arm down and forward towards the center of your body. Give that "love handle" area an extra flex and return to start position.
Repeat for the other side. Repeat the movement until you have done 12 repetitions for each side of your body.
Love Handle Crush
Bend at the waist until your upper body is almost parallel to the floor, a light dumbbell in each hand, palms facing each other.
Movement: Flexing your entire back and side "love handle" area, extend your arms outward until they are parallel to the floor. Without resting, return to start position. Repeat 12 times.
Repeat this sequence two more times.
In three weeks you'll see a major meltdown of your love handles, especially if you add more variety to your love handle workout. "
i wonder how mr tong is coping - mr tong is leslie's bf.
i personally do not like how anita mui's shows are aired everytime when it nears her death anniversary, whereas leslie's not. i understand, she died fighting cancer, he gave up the 16-yr-long fight against depression and died. both died in the same year. two veri close frens.
rite now, im listening to his final songs.. he havent finish recording his latest cd album when he jumped. but they sold it anyway, and definitely earned a lot. a LOT. i bought a lot of his cds after his death. had listened to a couple of his old cds before his death and i tot that it was quite nice. i love his shows - like "a chinese ghost story" parts 1 and 2... his last last last song, "yuan jia" - enemies - is just too nice.
great, now my mother rambling abt how generous of my sis is abt giving her 80% of her earnings, which happened 13 years ago. no more mood to blog.
i googled HIM. this HIM; i wont divulge his name. for his sake, not mine.
he seems settled down happily in his career. he is steadily gaining in this aspect, that's great!
and rite now i see a small lil ant crawling around my keyboard. may he be electrocuted without ruining my laptop. im evil, i know.
now i keep asking myself, am i over him? wad does it mean to be "over" someone? wad i do know, is that it's near impossible to forget everything abt him, you wont hear me asking,"who is this person? i dun rmb that i even tot abt him."
most probably in 10 yrs time, i will go, "yea, i [had/am still having] this crush on him. yea, he's good. im good. that's good. let's just move on with life."
im sick of this. yesterday i was smiling from my memories of him. that's just so wrong! i shouldnt even allow myself to recall his existence. i need him to fade away in my mind, but he isnt.
and den there's the jap guy. dammit, i dun wanna admit it, but he's oso in my mind. *shake head* i seriously need help. i gotta stop being so stupid.
and i gotta make myself clean. somehow, i onli have interest in older men. i dunno why! and i heard that gals onli have preference for older men when they lacked paternal love. well, i do rmb not having my father around me often ever since i was sensible, he was always overseas working, having affairs, etc. now, he's back on weekends, and we're starting to rebuild our relationship.. that's good rite? but i know that i will never be as close to him as a daughter should be. i just cant. which daughter can go around, knowing that her father hadnt been faithful to her mother, and then pretend that nth happened? well, maybe there's the possiblity. den wad abt having her father being overseas for years and onli coming home once every 3 months in her childhood years?
sian~ i got out of point again..
anyway, i really think that the jap guy is similar to HIM.. just that i like the jap guy better.. he's so gentleman.. budden i do not want to be married to a jap.. after wad i heard from ee lin [my bro's gf], japanese wives have no life. i need to have a life.
lala~
i think i better stop blogging. cos rite now, im crapping.
I Am @ Youth.SG
at first, when i saw those words in bold, i was thinking, "i am at youth.sg? what does that mean?"
now, i see it as "i am a youth"
yea!! i AM a youth! just that soon, i dun get to be a youth anymore, instead, an adult. an adult who's stuck at the height of 1.5m..
still, there are many times when i think like an old granny. eh, sometimes, i think i am one for real. like the times when i get backaches after doing some sorting stuff at work.. when my elbow and knee joints give these popping and cracking sounds when i stretch or when i squat. it's "omigosh! i feel old!"
and look! i am sooooooo longwinded in my blog! look at the length of an average entry. see wad i mean?
okae, i am officially, an OLD youth.
anyway, what is the age limit for us to be a youth? there are those adults who behave ever so childish-ly [just like my good ol' brother at home!] and there are the philosphical teenagers who have already started planning their retirement fund [okae, i think i'm starting to exaggerate things.]
sigh~ it's me, old youth, signing out! *cough cough*
the music soothes me. does it soothe you? makes me wanna lie down and relax for that moment. but i know i cant, cos the computer chair im sitting on creaks like crazy. cant relax with such squeaky noises.
im sleepy. bye.
having frens means you care abt wad impression you make on them.
having frens means that you care abt them.
having frens means that you will get hurt by them.
and when you get hurt, it hurts big time.
so painful that your heart wanna stop beating, your lungs gonna stop breathing.
you just wanna end life.
sometimes, you get sick of frens.
sometimes, it seems like they go all out to break you up.
sometimes, it's better that frens remain as acquaintances. you know me, i know you. that's it. there's no "i love you. you love me."
sometimes, frens rock your world. that is, when they make you happy. they make you so glad that you wanna scream and shout to the whole world that life is worth living with them.
man, having feelings suck.
01 February 2007
anyway, me just wanna note that today, the jap guy smiled at me! he showed his pearly whites when i was on the phone and gave him a brief smile.. actually i was toking to one of the consultants from recruit express and asking for timesheets when he came over to my area.. den i look up at him, he look at me.. felt that it will be awkward if i dun acknowledge his presence by smiling [i smile a lot to strangers], so i smiled. didnt expect him to smile back, nor did i expect him not to smile back, just wasnt expecting much i guess.. after the previous time when he gave me a stunned look when i smiled at him.. haha!
den that smile of his made me not hear the consultant on the phone for a few seconds. dammit. nowadays i cant seem to multitask. when chinya toked to me regarding some issues while i was doing my work, i lost track of wad i was doing when i went back to my work.. luckily i always get to recall in a matter of seconds.. :P
but from then on, for the rest of the day, we didnt make a single eye contact. haha! so weird la.... colleagues and yet acting like total strangers.. and i've been at panasonic for a month! and he's sitting on my direct left, with the walking aisle btn us. but nvm.. hai.. he's married.. nono, i do not want to have any relations to him.. just that i dun want him to misunderstand my smile and ruin a potential frenship with a good-looking guy.. it's hard to find good-looking frens, ya know? haha, kidding!
actually, it's nvm even if i say that.. since not much pple pays attention to wad i say~ hehe
